What is Self-Care?

Self-care is a wide term that includes pretty much anything you do to take care of yourself. It is more or less tied to being kind to yourself as you would be to other people. It’s about knowing when your resources are running low, and stepping back to replenish them rather than letting them all drain away. Grinding is good, hustling is good, but sometimes we just need those days to rest and recharge so you can bounce back better. You deserve it!

Sometimes self-care is taking a much-needed vacation or a shopping spree, but you don’t necessarily have to break the bank to self-care. In fact, it can be just about staying at home. So we have compiled 4 ways you can refresh and recharge at ease at the comfort of your home.

#1 Spa Day

Instead of going out to the spa, why don’t you do it yourself? All you need is a quick trip to the store to grab some essentials like face masks, bubble baths, nail polish, a candle or even some healthy snacks. Turn on some music and draw a nice bubble bath and get ready to relax.



#2 Get the heart rate up

You don’t have to go to the gym to get some active time in your day. You can still relax and chill while getting your heart rate up. Simply go for a brisk walk and enjoy the nature around you. Put in your headphones or take in all of the sights and sounds around you. Center yourself as you take a stroll. Breathe in, breathe out!


#3 Netflix and Chill


Go on a mental vacation and get lost in entertainment! Instead of buying an expensive plane ticket and flying off to a far off place, why not let a book or TV show guide your imagination to new places? Grab your comfiest clothes, brew a cup of tea and get cozy on the couch and dive into a great book or TV show.



#4 A Moment of Mindfulness Meditation


Take a couple of minutes to unwind and meditate. Relieve your stress and anxiety while also increasing energy and vitality. Pay attention to your breath as it goes in and out, take note of when the mind wanders from this. Doing this will help build the muscles of attention and mindfulness. Get comfortable and sit for a few minutes and focus on inhaling and exhaling. Notice where you feel your breath the most. In your belly? In your nose? Try to keep your attention on the motion of inhaling and exhaling. Do this for two minutes. By practicing mindfulness meditation, we can learn how to understand our minds and helps us have a healthier relationship with ourselves and others.


Self Care doesn’t have to cost a lot. Just follow these simple and easy tips to a better and healthier you.
