Soft, strechy enough, nice stitching, perfect!
These shorts are not cut for people who actually have large, muscular thighs. The sizing chart is also off by about one size.
In my case, I'm normally about a 31 in pants and ordered a small in these because the chart states a size of 32. For me, pants with a 32" waist are almost always too loose so I was actually concerned about these being too big. In reality they are extremely snug around the waist. Like realllly tight even though I can do them up. If you're normally a 29 or 30 in jeans, a small in these will possibly fit your waist. But unfortunately, I found the thighs fit even more snug than the waist. Even with the 3% spandex, it's extremely hard to get these over big thighs. Customer support was very helpful and sent me a Large to try on. It still quite snug in the legs, but essentially fit in the legs. Unfortunately, the inseam was so long the shorts go all the way down to my knees. The waist was also way, way too loose (by several inches). For reference, I'm a small in the tech performance shorts which fit perfectly.
Don't be fooled, like I was, by the image of the black model whose shorts taper up to a relatively slim waist compared to his huge legs. If you look carefully at that image, the waist is pinned smaller on the inside to make the shorts look like they fit well in the photograph. I wish I'd noticed that before. Instead, focus on the model with lighter skin. His shorts are not pinned in any way. The view from behind demonstrates a very snug fit over his legs, even though doesn't have the tiniest waist. This is more accurate. If your legs are at all bigger relative to your waist, be very careful about sizing.
It's not that these shorts will fit everyone terribly. But for a company that seeks to attract gym-goers and bodybuilders, it's a little silly that these wouldn't actually fit someone whose legs are beefy. I had my hopes up because I dreamed of finally having a pair of casual chino shorts that fit my legs well without being way too loose around the waist. Instead, they're not especially different from something at H & M. They do look really nice, though. And the stretch feels better than most stretch chino shorts I've tried. I just wish they actually fit. Or at least fit as advertised.
