Guide to the Best Workout Leggings Fit

by Yvonne Napier 18 Mar 2022 0 Comments

Finding the right pair of leggings can be a bit of a hassle as there are so many options out there. In today's guide, we breakdown how to choose the best fit for yourself and how to avoid common mistakes while purchasing leggings.

The different factors to consider while choosing the ideal fit for you:

1. High Rise Vs. Mid Rise: If you are someone who loves maximum coverage and support, then a high-rise is the way to go! On the other hand, if you love flaunting your midsection or find anything on your belly restricting, then opt for mid-rise or even low-rise bottoms. There are also super high-rise leggings that help with compressing and providing the ultimate support.

2. Length: Leggings come in ¾ Length, ⅞ Length, and Full Length. If your height is on the shorter side or you face issues with leggings bunching up near your ankle, consider the ⅞ or ¾ leggings as your saviour. If you love full coverage, then the full length is perfect for you, especially if you are on the taller side.

3. Fabric: Fabric is an important factor in determining the right pair of leggings for any activity, be it lounging, running errands, or yoga!

  • Brushed Fabric: This fabric is soft to touch and gives you a super smooth feel. It is almost like a second skin and you won’t even feel like you’re wearing anything. Perfect for lounging at home or working out. These are high on comfort level without compromising on flexibility.
  • Compression: This type of fabric provides utmost support to your waist, thighs, and tummy. Keeping things smooth and snatched. Perfect for a night out or to the gym.
  • Ribbed: Add a bit of texture to your leggings and it will minimize any bumps or areas you do not want to highlight. Ribbed leggings are the perfect balance between support and style as these ensure you look good and feel good! Perfect for workouts or running errands.
  • Ripped: These are for those seeking to show a little skin and have lots of fun. Always in trend, you can never go wrong with ripped leggings, these also offer a maximum range of movement.
  • Super stretchy: Great for all the yogis to flex their asanas without worrying about restrictive movement or ripping the fabric. These leggings are very flexible and comfortable.
4. Features: We’re here for the features! This is the real deal for most of us and it all comes down to purpose.
  • Seamless: This feature is a game-changer, it not only offers a stitch-free look but also has more stretch and shape retention than a regular pair of leggings.
  • Pockets: We cannot emphasize enough how much we love this one! I mean whether you’re going for a run or running errands, who doesn’t need pockets! Discrete pockets are even better as they are concealed and perfect to store a credit card or just a key.
  • Butt-scrunch: This is a great feature to enhance your buttocks and give them a natural lift and extra oomph. *plays Juicy - Doja Cat*
  • Foot straps: Keep things in place with foot straps, great for all the yoga girls out there, extra support without compromising on stretch and comfort.
  • Towel Loop: Go hands-free while you work out in the gym with the towel loop, to hang your towel and keep dry after that sweaty workout.
  • V-waist: Flaunt your midriff and get all the support while you do it with this feature. V-waist leggings accentuate your waist and the rest is history.

Remember, not all leggings fit the same even under the same brand; the fit of leggings differs based on its material. This essentially means that materials like cotton will have little to no stretch in comparison to fabrics like spandex, nylon, etc. Make sure you always check the fabric before finalizing your size.

We hope this guide helps you find the leggings of your dreams. Keep slaying, girls.
